Client Bill of Rights

Policy:

Costa Mesa Detox will ensure that all clients are aware of their personal rights. A copy of client personal rights will be given to each client and posted on a bulletin board in the location accessible to all clients.

Procedure:

Costa Mesa Detox staff will ensure that all clients are aware of their personal rights as follows.

• To be treated with dignity and respect.
• To receive services with no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, sex, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, or personal beliefs.
• To have confidentiality in all communications and records regarding the program, case discussions, consultation, recovery, and any referrals. All client program information is confidential and will be treated in a confidential manner (this right is waived if the client presents a danger to himself, herself or others or with the disclosure of child or elder abuse).
• To file a grievance if the client feels that they have been treated unfairly during the recovery episode or during my discharge.
• To receive information regarding the client’s financial obligation (s).
• To be free from intellectual, emotional, and/or physical and/or verbal abuse.
• To be free to practice religious services, or activities of the client’s choice. Participation in religious Services is strictly voluntary.
• To be provided with accessibility to medication assisted treatment.

Costa Mesa Detox staff will further ensure that the following is completed.

• Each client review, signs, and is provided with a copy of their rights during the admission to recovery process.
• A copy of clients rights is posted in a location visible to all clients and the general public.
• The follow-up after discharge does not occur without a client’s written consent.
